Dragons’ Den star Peter Jones has opened up about his friendship with Harry Styles which actually dates back way before the pop king found fame with One Direction.
The entrepreneur appeared on Monday’s Lorraine where he revealed Harry approached him before he auditioned for The X Factor and promised Peter he was going to be a famous musician one day.
The rest is history.
‘I was in Portugal having a bit of food with my family and there was this lovely young man with his friends and I think, he was obviously Harry and he was 14, and he was waiting and he said, “I’m a massive fan, please could I have your autograph?”’ Peter recalled.
‘I remember writing it and he told me what he was going to do, he said, “I’m going to be a musician.” And I went, “Do you know what, I believe you. I believe you’re going to do that.”
‘So I put to Harry, go and make your dreams a reality, best wishes Peter Jones.’
And Harry still gets in touch with Peter.
‘He text me the other day, “Did you pass me on the car? It’s H, it’s Harry.”’
Obviously, Peter’s four girls have ‘gone mad’ for it, asking: ‘Daddy have you heard from Harry today?’
‘Life’s gone full circle,’ he teased.
Peter was speaking ahead of the new series of Dragons’ Den returning to BBC One this autumn, where he’ll be joined by the youngest ever Dragon, Steven Bartlett, 28, founder and former CEO of The Social Chain, a social media marketing agency he started in his bedroom in Manchester when he was only 22.
‘He’s going to be great,’ enthused Peter. ‘He’s fantastic.’

Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV at 9am. Dragons’ Den returns to BBC One later this year.
