Teen Mom 2 star Kailyn Lowry apologizes to Demi Lovato for using she/her pronouns to describe the non-binary singer after clarifying her own pronouns.
Teen Mom 2 star Kailyn Lowry apologized to pop singer Demi Lovato for misgendering them on the latest episode of her podcast. The original TM2 cast mate is the host of two podcasts, an author and mother to four boys. Kailyn is no stranger to addressing drama on her Instagram as she keeps followers in the know about her conflicts with her kids’ dads. Most recently, Kailyn savagely exposed her ex Chris Lopez by posting body-shaming texts he allegedly sent her. However, in her latest IG Story, Kailyn unexpectedly held herself accountable for misspeaking about the famous musician.
Kailyn recently mentioned Demi on her popular Coffee Convos podcast. Demi, who released an album earlier this year, revealed in May they identify as non-binary. Demi said coming out as non-binary “best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression.” The star’s pronouns are they/them and prefers not to be referred to by she/her pronouns. Kailyn ended up using feminine pronouns to describe Demi on the episode and took to Instagram to speak out about her mistake.

I really just came on here to apologize and say, moving forward, I want to do better,Kailyn said in a video on her IG Story (via Page Six). “I want to respect people and what their pronouns are and truly just, like, ask people moving forward.” Kailyn went on to ask for Demi’s forgiveness for the slip up, and requested the musician be “patient.” Kailyn described that she wants to be genuine as she learns. “I want to get everyone’s pronouns correctly,” Kailyn said, adding she will “do better moving forward.”
Kailyn said she was prompted to speak out about her mistake after clearing up her pronouns in a previous Instagram Story Q&A. One follower asked Kailyn to clarify her pronouns because her ex Chris often says “they” or “them” when referring to Kailyn. “My pronouns are ‘she’ and ‘her,'” Kailyn said on her Story. “He constantly calls me ‘they.'” Kailyn explained the frustration of Chris’ use of incorrect pronouns brought her own awareness to the fact she misgendered Demi on her podcast.
As an original cast mate on Teen Mom 2, Kailyn has done a lot of growing up in the public eye. She’s no stranger to making mistakes and has often been on the other end of hate for being in the wrong in her personal conflicts. Though her spats with her youngest sons’ dad seem to have no end in sight, Kailyn appears to be showing maturity as a public figure and offers kindness to fellow celebrities.
